LAFAYETTE, La. – Viemed Healthcare delivered solid second-quarter results, highlighted by robust growth in its sleep therapy segment, according to CEO Casey Hoyt during a recent earnings call.
The company reported a 15% sequential and 51% year-over-year increase in its sleep therapy patient census, with new patient setups jumping 72% year-over-year.
“We’re committed to sustaining this strong momentum, having launched eight new sleep markets since the start of the year,” said Hoyt.
Resupply Growth on the Horizon
With a growing base of therapy patients and a surge in new starts, Viemed anticipates a significant uptick in resupply volume in the second half of the year and beyond.
“Our resupply program is tracking a similar growth trajectory, up 10% sequentially and 25% year-over-year,” Hoyt noted. “We’re also gaining market share, as more patients are switching their resupply needs from competitors to our program.”
A Strategy of Diversification and Execution
In July, Viemed completed its acquisition of Lehan’s Medical Equipment, a move that expands the company’s geographic footprint and broadens its product offerings.
“Lehan’s brings us into the maternal health space, allowing us to diversify our patient population and leverage our national infrastructure and payer relationships to engage patients earlier in their care journeys,” Hoyt said. “At the same time, we’re using Lehan’s presence to grow our complex respiratory and sleep services in Illinois and Wisconsin—just as we’ve done organically in other regions. This is truly a story of diversification and disciplined execution.”
Prepared for Policy Shifts
Hoyt also addressed the new national coverage determination (NCD) for home mechanical ventilation, expressing overall satisfaction with the final rule—especially the removal of the requirement for patients to first “try and fail” on another device before qualifying.
“This is a major win for patients, as Medicare Advantage plans often use step therapy to delay access to non-invasive ventilation,” he explained. “With the NCD in place, these plans must comply, easing the burden on patients and reducing the operational strain of switching out equipment.”
While the updated policy brings additional documentation and usage tracking requirements, Hoyt said Viemed is well-positioned to meet them. He also predicted that smaller providers may face challenges, potentially leading to industry consolidation.
“We’ve anticipated these changes and are ready,” he said. “Our Engage Care Manager platform is built to support compliance and monitor patient usage effectively.”
