Canadian Seating & Mobility Conference to Spotlight Innovation and Education

TORONTO – VGM Canada will bring together hundreds of seating, mobility and complex rehab technology professionals in Toronto on Sept. 9-10 for the Canadian Seating & Mobility Conference (CSMC), featuring 30 education sessions and more than 50 exhibit booths.

A highlight of the event will be the “New Product Walk” on opening day, where attendees can explore the latest innovations and vote for their favorite. The winning product will receive the annual Harding Award for Product Innovation, announced on day two.

“We also have five partners supporting the event: Amylior, ETAC, Permobil, Pride Mobility/Quantum Rehab and Sunrise Medical,” said Dave Davies, president of VGM Canada. “They’re our big supporters.”

CSMC will also recognize the 2025 HME Leader of the Year, an award honoring individuals who make significant contributions to the home medical equipment (HME) and mobility industry in Canada. Previously known as the HME Woman of the Year, the award now celebrates leadership across the industry more broadly.

Education is another major focus, with sessions covering a wide range of topics. Highlights include:

  • Power Up Your Ride: Less Effort, More Adventure by Jessica Presperin Pedersen of Sunrise Medical
  • Smart Wheelchairs Have Arrived – What’s Next by Dr. Pooja Viswanathan of Braze Mobility
  • Beyond the Joystick: Navigating the World of Alternative Power Wheelchair Controls by Ryan Cavender of Stealth Products

“We’re the premier event in Canada for continuing education,” Davies said. “That’s what we’re known for.”

For the first time, VGM Canada will expand the model by hosting a second event next year: CSMC East, scheduled for April 29-30 in Moncton, New Brunswick, in partnership with the Maritime Home Medical Provider Association (MHMPA). While about 80% of CSMC attendees come from the Toronto area, this new event is designed to reach providers from Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces.

“We’re testing the waters,” Davies said. “Maybe CSMC East will be followed by CSMC West the next year, and we’ll alternate between the two each spring, while keeping the main event in Toronto every fall.”
