Bid Battle Intensifies: VGM and AAHomecare Rally Ahead of Comment Deadline

WATERLOO, Iowa, & ARLINGTON, Va. – With the Aug. 29 comment deadline looming for Medicare’s competitive bidding proposals, VGM Government Relations and AAHomecare are pulling out all the stops to guide providers and mobilize patients.

VGM has released a comprehensive outline covering the proposed bidding rules, industry challenges, recommendations, and step-by-step instructions for crafting and submitting comments. The goal: equip DME companies with everything they need to make their voices heard.

“VGM has stood by the DMEPOS community through every round of competitive bidding—and this time is no different,” the organization stated. “We remain committed to supporting suppliers and will continue to provide resources and guidance throughout the process. Please reach out to the VGM Government Relations Team for additional support.”

AAHomecare Launches End User Activation Toolkit

Meanwhile, AAHomecare has introduced its End User CBP Activation Toolkit to rally patients and family caregivers in opposing the competitive bidding program. The toolkit includes:

  • A comment guide with clear instructions and talking points
  • Educational materials explaining the stakes for patients
  • Sample email and social media content to help spread the word

“This is an all-hands-on-deck moment,” said Tom Ryan, AAHomecare president and CEO. “We must activate every corner of the HME community – especially the voices of end users and their families – to stop provisions that would devastate access to care and dismantle the home-based care infrastructure.”
